What is the distinction between a file and a folder? How is each one visually represented?

A file is a computer basic storage unit, which might contain a report, spreadsheet, or picture, for example. Basically, a file store data while folders store files and other folders. Folders are used to organize files on the computer and the folder itself takes up no space on the computer unlike the files. A file is looked like a single file while folder have multiple files.
